I’m was never really a big fan on M.I.A. and her website gives me a headache (no to mention the mislabeled links). But, my tastes in music aside, you really have to respect someone as big as M.I.A. who still keeps it real. In her videos, instead of thugs, bitches and diamonds, she has street dancers, and real people, who don’t look like they are made of plastic.

Austin City Limits announced the 2008 lineup last night for their slightly more expensive ($170 for a three day pass) and still in the heat of September music festival. While it still may have the usual problems (dehydration and sandstorms) perhaps a little more money and thought went into the festival this year (and with this lineup it looks like it) The lineup looks amazing and includes some of our favorites like:

Sometimes when something is done in an epic style, and done correctly, you end up with a truly amazing piece of cinema. Talk about epic, according to Wikipedia it took almost four years to complete Fully Fared, a skateboarding movie from Lakia Footwear, because of new additions to the team. To start the movie they picked a band known for their epic ballads, M83. Plus, they use plenty of slow mo and explosions for the added touch.

Every now and then I pull a CD from behind my drivers seat and pop it in. A band called Iron Horse starts to play blue grass covers of Modest Mouse and I sing along to every word, hoping someone in the car hasn’t heard Modest Mouse before. It’s great a for a few laughs, and since I have played Modest Mouse a million times before it just seems like the right tribute.

The greatest band ever created in Denton is playing a cheap ass show, only $3, which means there is no excuse (you could find the money outside the venue by looking around on the ground.
So if you know what is good for you come out to The Boiler Room, in Denton Texas, on the square. You will be happy you did!
It has been a long freaking time since the last Atmosphere album. I can’t even count how many times I have said I wish a new Atmosphere album would come out. I have listen to their old stuff so much I can’t stand it anymore and I yearn for the joy and goosebumps from hearing words slung together in ways I never knew possible.

I call it ear candy, because it is very pleasing. It will give you goosebumps at every apex, and will make your room transform into a den of cool. Who would have known such amazing music would come out of Pennsylvania and from a band called Black Moth Super Rainbow.
