Every year my mom gets a few weeks off from work and we take a family vacation. We try to pick a place none of us have ever been to, and we pack up and head off for the chosen destination. Last year we picked Charleston, a town rich with history and culture, and it was the trip of a lifetime.
The thing I remember most was the amazing horse ride tour we took around town. We piled into a horse carriage, and a tour guide took us around the points of interest in town. Some of the houses were hundreds of years old. The Civil War started in Charleston, and we got to tour some of the houses of the confederate commanders. Charleston was the mecca of wealth during that time, and the historical buildings show it.
The food was amazing. When you live in Texas, you don’t understand how wonderful seafood can be once you get close to the source. Add southern style cooking to the mix and you have dishes to die for.
These vacations are always unplanned go with the flow type of trips. We used the Internet in our hotel room and looked up a fantastic website from a company called Trusted Tours & Attractions. Their website has an entire section on sightseeing tours. We found all kinds of information on their page dedicated to Charleston Tours, and quickly we found a tour that sounded interesting.
We even got a chance to win a Handheld GPS just for signing up for their free newsletter. All we had to do was sign up here, and we were entered!
Charleston was a great experience for our family. I can’t wait for our next family adventure.
