It is a sensation that is taking the world by storm, and never before has the 18-25 year old mostly male demographic been able to come together, and kill orcs, in such a graphically appealing way. I’m talking about online Role Playing Games, or MMORPG’s to those in the community. One of the newest, still in Beta in the US (but in the process of being released) is called Lunia and its advanced game play may just change the way video games are created and played.
The basic set up has been done before. You sign up and create a character. As you play the game you collect items, and slowly but surely your character gets better and better. One day several years down the road, after all your friends left you broke and hungry, the the ultimate character of your dreams will be yours. Or, if you are the lazy type, don’t have a few years and enjoy the company of your friends you can buy your perfect character. Gunbound uses this model, and enjoys great success throughout most of the Asia. The fact that the game if free to play attracts a lot of users. The more users the better the gameplay, and the better the gameplay the more diehard users you will have. These diehard players make the game money, and support the creative business behind it.
Lunia works in much of the same way, or it will once it is released from Beta. You create a character of one of three classes (more classes are also to be released with the end version of the game) and journey through jungles and deserts, killing things like bears and scorpions. You gain experience every time you kill something, or complete a quest, and your character levels up, allowing you to add special skills and attributes to your creation. The levels are meant to be played in groups of four people, and you share experience gains with everyone you play with.
The overall goal of the game if pretty simple. Different people you run into during the game will give you things to do. Most of the time you have to take something to someone else, or you will have to find something and kill it. Most of the time these givers of quests, all very good but very needed people, will in trade for your services give you bonus experience points or cool items you won’t find anywhere else.
They also included a gambling aspect to the game. You can upgrade your weapons and clothes, but there is a chance that you item will break. The chance that the item breaks gets higher and higher the more you improve your weapon. The professional Lunia players have max levels for all their equipment, which to me is pretty amazing because I can seem to get about half way before my stuff breaks. Once the game opens completely out of beta, you should be able to fix broken items for a fee.

Our guild has the most fun!
The music is an added bonus in Lunia. Most online games lack in this area, but Lunia has the crazy girl in the background singing about flying away to her dreams throughout the entire game. Levels have music that give the level a happy running through the field killing bears tone, or the scary dark killing skeletons theme. Either way, it will make you bounce in your chair, and sing to your friends.
If you check Lunia out, make sure and find our clan, the PwnStars, and join. We have the best clan in the whole game, and we will help you out if you need it.
