If anyone in the outside world reads this please know that I am currently addicted to a video game called Command and Conquer 3. For some reason I am bomb at this game, and I win every time. I can’t seem to stop playing for more than an hour to eat and shower. With the advent of online multiplayer games, the number of people I can destroy while sitting in my PJ’s is uncountable to the point I can play all day long and never face the same two people.
Before we get into the review, I want to offer the world already playing the game, a few of my maps, screen shots, and upcoming videos. (I told you I am addicted)
CricketSoda’s Maps
To play a map, extract the entire folder into your CnC3 maps folder. (usually found under C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Maps) Then fire up Command and Conquer 3 and enjoy!
- Maze Wars (1vs1) : Fight your way through a tough maze filled with goodies and buildings. This is a anti rush map that gives you plenty of time to build up, while at the same time offering strategic points throughout the map for the quickest to capture. This is a very large 1vs1 map.
Fighting building to building removing enemy troops from buildings as they shoot down on us.
Our advanced base defense rip through their attack.
Ion Cannons bring a deathly silence to the battle field.
It is the same classic game Westwood Studios released in 1995. You build a base, and an army, while collecting resources to fund your war effort. You try to fend off your enemies attacks while at the same time staging your own offensive moves. It is a true action game, based on resource budgets and timing. The bigger the army you can amass, the more likely you will be able to overcome your foes base defense and retaliation attacks.
Making sure your units are well balanced, and able to handle anything that comes their way is another aspect. Each side has different air and ground units designed for a certain purpose. Getting those units where they need to be while avoiding the other sides units that could easily destroy yours is a difficult task.
While many things remain the same about the game, several changes have been made the to the overall fighting engine. The encounters are much smoother, and fighting is more fast pace, adding to the over warfare experience. The explosions are amazing, and as the fight gets dirty, the smoke realistically fills the battlefield making harder for you to see what is going on.
Expanding has also picked up the pace in the latest title. As soon as the game starts you can build an outpost to establish a forward base. From there you can fight off enemy attacks, and gather more resources. You can also stage attacks on their outposts as well, keeping them from getting the valuable resources as you come in and sweep them away.
As you can tell, the addiction has already set in, and it is really keeping me from taking my life to the next level, like I need to so badly. Please help…please help…please help…
I give this game a 8 out of 10! It loses points for the high number of exploits people use online, and the slight imbalances between different nations. But overall, the gameplay is addicting, and you couldn’t ask for much more. With new side games being invented, it looks like this game will be played for many many months.
Brandon and I are going to create some videos of the strategies we have developed for the game, as well as some other funny things we have found through playing. We will post them on YouTube and update this post then.
