One of the biggest challenges as a online publisher is finding ways to earn money through different forms of advertising without making your site less useful because it is hard to access the content. CricketSoda has always held a lot of restraint on the type of ads we serve. We don’t use pop ups, or flashy ads that bug people or freeze computers. Today, I decided to try a new form of advertising in hopes of generating a little extra revenue for our upcoming projects, and keeping the amount of ads on the site low.

PayPerPost allows advertisers to buy a post from your website. Basically, you review a product, and they pay you. Now I know it would seem like the fact the post was paid for would change the opinion in the article, but all sponsored posts are labeled with a disclosure badge. This lets you know that this post is an advertisement, and will give you more information about the products website or whatever. At the end of each post, you will see a sponsored by PayPerPost. (not all paid posts require a disclosure, but I require a disclosure, for the protection of our readers) This isn’t going to reflect our opinions, findings, beliefs, or the experiences you will have on CricketSoda.

It is much like in a magazine when you see an ad that is just a article that has the words advertisement written across the top.

CricketSoda will also get a good amount of exposure for the deal. Our partnership allows us offer people $7.50 to review our website. As other blogs sign on, and write and link to us, the viral process will drive traffic to our own site.

The reason these ads are so valuable is because they are written by me, about a product, so it get quality copy about a product. Another good thing is that I get to pick and choose witch products to review, so I will only make sure stuff relevant to CricketSoda gets through.

With this extra money (some sites make an extra $15,000 according to their “top earners”) CricketSoda will be able to keep the amount of network and paid ads low. If things go well, and the ad posts are well accepted, we might even get some new movie equipment out of the deal.
