It sucks the life out of anything it touches

Most people have heard something about diabetes. It is a popular topic since it affects over 18.2 million Americans. Even so, most people don’t know the real truth about diabetes, and impact it has on people’s lives. Not only does it change a person’s life when they get diabetes, but it causes everyone connected to that person, to worry and stress out.

Diabetes is a constant struggle. Once you have it, it is something that is going to be with you for the rest of your life. It comes up every time you eat, go to sleep, and many times in between when your blood sugar just isn’t right.

A diabetic blood sugar gets high, which makes them feel sick to their stomach, and they lose all energy to do anything. The only way to remedy high blood sugar is with a shot and exercise, and having to go exercise while your blood sugar is high is a pain in the ass. Maybe you wanted to spend the day working on a project or with friends, but no. You can sit around feeling bad and not really into anything around you, or you can go for a run and hope you don’t make your blood sugar hit the floor.

It is a constant struggle for balance in a world of constant changes. You have to work hard to keep it at a good level. Every little thing you do affects your blood sugar in some way. Any emotions you have also play a part, and if you get sick or depressed, forget having normal blood sugar.

Of course, lots of people live their life “feeling bad,” and still find some happiness and enjoyment. A diabetic could just live a hard life, but still overcoming the odds. It isn’t something that makes your life stop, but your blood sugar number becomes a question of life or dead.

Every time your blood sugar is high, it is taking time off your life. With high blood sugar you have a long list of complications to look forward to; serious complications. You will lose your eyesight, your kidneys will start to fail, and your blood will no circulate as well, bringing a new slew of problems with it.

Diabetes sucks, and there is no escaping just how much it sucks when a person has it. We need to put more emphasis on finding a cure for this horrible disease. The quality of life for people with diabetes is generally pretty low. If we could give diabetics a little hope and some type of relief from the pain, the world and our society would benefit greatly. Health care costs would go down, and the billions of dollars diabetics spend to keep them alive would be given back to the diabetics who can invest that money in something more worthwhile than big corporations who are just interested in profits from medicine.
