Protesting Halliburton

by: Levi Blackman

Yelling and Making Noise Outside of Halliburton on the 18th of May

It had been awhile since I had the comfort of sleep, and I met the morning with slight reserve, thinking in my head if the trip was the right thing to do. We had been driving all night trying to make the five hour trip from Denton to Houston and everyone slept except me, who drove.

As soon as we could see the group meeting under the statue, the excitement took over and we were ready to go. Halliburton had been stealing our hard earned tax dollars long enough with their oil wars. The group grew, and so did our voice. Little did we know that we would make national news.

The cops gathered as we prepared to protest

We made a lot of noise and the cops were mean to us. With about 300 people screaming and making noise in the street, we stood out and made international news.

We had a little meeting in the park after the protest. A few speakers talked about our political gain from the protest, and a few told stories about the protest, police brutality, and about what happened inside the stock holders meeting.

We also got a clip that was shot right after three cops on horses ran their horses through the crowed breaking a woman’s foot, and injurying a girl from Dallas.
