Yum…Hot Dogs

Nothing says independence like eating 66 hot dogs (with the bun) in 12 minutes. Every 4th of July eating pros from all over the country gather at Coney island for a American tradition that has become almost as popular as fireworks. In fact, the eating contest is going to be on ESPN at noon EST.

Recently, the contest has become a sick display of human consumption. When the contest first started in 1916, eating 15 hot dogs was an amazing feat. Now, you have to eat 15 just to compete, and if you expect to win, your looking at upwards of 50.

Last year Joey Chestnut ate 66 dogs. This year, we may actually get to see someone explode, even though fireworks are illegal on Coney Island.

  1. Hey. I like massive amounts of hot dogs. Especially if they’re Nathans. I also like the work of Allen Funt, and who can resist a freshly shaven leg?
